IP Address to Carrier Lookup
Using the Apollo API, you can determine the wireless carrier of each visitor to your WAP site based on the visitor's IP Address. Our database includes thousands of IP Address ranges used by hundreds of operators in the U.S and internationally. Unlike the discontinued GURFL database project, our mobile IP address database includes all of the U.S carriers including Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Alltel, Virgin, Boost, Nextel, US Cellular, Cricket, and others. The IP address to carrier lookup function also recognizes the various proxy services used by the iPhone, Sidekick, and other unique devices.
Handset Detection
When a visitor comes to your mobile website or mobile application download page, you can determine the make and model of the user's handset by querying the Apollo API with the visitor's user-agent string. Based on the user-agent, the Apollo API will perform device detection and let you know if the visitor is an iPhone user, a BlackBerry Bold user, a Palm Pre user, etc. The Apollo API uses the open-source WURFL database in conjunction with additional handset data which we continually add to the device database.
Device Capabilities Lookup
Aside from determining a visitor's handset make and model based on user-agent, the Apollo API can also provide information on the handset's capabilities. The entire set of WURFL device information is available via the Apollo API, including screen dimensions, operating system, J2ME version, and many other data points on each device. Don't guess at what your visitors' mobile phones are capable of, simply query the Apollo API's device database to find out.
SMS Send API
Send a text message via the Apollo API to over 200 carriers globally at extremely competitive rates. Mobile web developers can use this function to send a password or pincode to the mobile phone of your visitors, or to keep your visitors engaged with regular alerts.
